RATIONALE
The Italian Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AME) together with the European Society of Endocrinology are launching an early career Course in Clinical Endocrinology. The course will be addressed to a limited number of Italian and European participants, aiming to favour a friendly climate and to stimulate clinical discussion driven by the most relevant Italian and European experts in their fields. The course will address some of the most relevant topics of endocrine disease. In all the sessions of the course short case reports presented by early career endocrinologists will introduce the clinical and practical presentation held by the experts, followed by a discussion with final take home messages.
The addressed topics will be:
Reproduction: endocrine work up for male and female infertility and medically assisted procreation.
Bone metabolism: instrumental and biochemical diagnosis, vitamin D use and misuse, and the rationale for osteoporosis treatment.
Endogenous hypercortisolism: present management and new options.
Differentiated and medullary thyroid cancer: Staging and microcarcinoma.
Obesity: the roles of metabolic surgery and of new drugs.
Adrenal insufficiency: diagnosis, work up and new therapeutic options.
